For-Credit Courses
These 3-credit classes have no prerequisites and are designed to be taken in any order. Tuition is $650 per course ($325 to audit) and is due by the first class meeting. A discounted tuition rate is available for students who are registered with UNL Newman Center. Please designate this in your application and we will be in touch with details.
Credit Transfer: Accredited through St. Gregory the Great Seminary, these courses may be transferred to other undergraduate institutions. For UNL students, a course equivalency has been established for elective credit. With advisor approval, they may also meet ACE (often ACE 5 or 8) and other requirements. Upon completion of the course, students will need to request a credit transfer from St. Gregory the Great Seminary.
HUM 266 - Foundations of the Human Experience:
Athens and Jerusalem

Course Description: This course looks at the great questions and ideas raised in the Near East and Hellenistic world from a multi-disciplinary approach. We explore the interplay between literature, history, philosophy, art, and theology inside and between these ancient cultures and their relevance to today’s world. No prerequisites.

Certificate in Catholic Thought: This course satisfies 3 of the Core credit hours necessary to complete our Certificate in Catholic Thought.
PHL 290 - The Person in the World:
Ethics in Theory & Application
Meeting: Tue & Thu, 11:00am-12:15pm, UNL Newman Center, Room 222

Credit Hours: 3
Course Description: What is the human person and how is he or she to act in the moment? Beginning with a consideration of the nature of the human person and the primary elements of ethical theory, this course will apply these principles to particular ethical questions in the areas of family life, medicine, technology, business, politics, and the environment. No prerequisites.
